Personal Writing

It’s a new year disruption, and you’re invited!

Thank you for providing the platform and the tools for me to disrupt my personal systems, tools to help me define my ‘next,’ for introductions to some amazingly talented, creative, fun, loving people and for affirmations of who I’ve been, who I am, and who I can become. It was a wonderful journey that was easily accessible. You did an amazing job putting this together.

Participant of the first-ever PSD weekend retreat

In November, I held my first-ever Personal Systems Disruption virtual weekend retreat for eight people from California, Montana, Iowa and Fargo.

I’d been developing this concept ever since my September writing retreat, and it was definitely time to put it into action. I created an Eventbrite and posted it on social media.

Turns out, those who gathered created a perfect cohort. Ages ranged from 23-70; there was a good mix of women and men. Some were pure artists and others were pure business people. Some dreams were massive, and some were seemingly quite small; many were long held and a few were just starting to break the surface.

What was so joyful was the way this group immediately jumped in to support each other. We created a safe place to be vulnerable, a place to take risks and receive meaningful feedback. And everybody took that to heart.

I loved this all very, very much!

Participants defined what Personal Systems Disruption meant to them after the weekend retreat concluded:

Getting out of your routine and taking a hard look at what you really want out of this one life you get.

And

Discovering the systems we put in place to keep us safe and small and finding ways to replace them to become our best version of ourselves.

And

At first, I considered personal systems my habits and routines, but as the weekend went on, I thought of it more as the mental box and enabling thoughts that keep me complacent. Disruption took place in a couple ways over the weekend. The retreat itself was an external disruption – the time set aside, goal-setting, and meeting new people. Internal disruption came from the validation, affirmation, and personal commitment to various goals.

Are you ready to uncover all of that, too?

There’s never been a better time than now to get going on your personal journey.
