Feeling hopeless? Let’s Spark Hope together this Thursday

We have perhaps never been as isolated as we’ve become in these last number of years. Our politics, COVID, the environment, remote work, an inequitable economy and more is dividing us, and we’re lonely and lacking in connection.

I woke early this morning, feeling a familiar sense of dread—a feeling I remember all too well from eight years ago. By 3:21, I gave in and checked my phone, only to find deepening confirmation of what I feared.

Despite the heaviness, I made it to my 6am spin class, knowing that caring for myself is essential, especially in dark times. My first impulse was to vent, to add to the outrage echoing everywhere. But my Spark—the quiet, steady voice that guides me—had other plans. It urged me toward a gentler approach, one that could actually help build community instead of division.

I made a list of small ways to reclaim hope and shared that for my Spark Moments reel this morning.

From the response, I know it has struck a chord.

So, I’m going live on Thursday, November 7, at 6pm CDT to share how we can move from despair to hope, together.

Here are some of the small actions I suggested:

  • Light a candle.
  • Treat yourself gently.
  • Do a random act of kindness.
  • Reach out to a neighbor, no matter your differences.
  • Give kids a safe space for their feelings.
  • Donate to a cause that matters.

But I’d love to hear what you’re thinking. How are you finding and pursuing your Spark?

Let’s come together, not to argue but to lift each other up, to feel seen and to rediscover a path forward.

Join me, even for a few minutes, and let’s rebuild hope, one small Spark at a time.

Your words of how to deal with this unimaginable dissapointment are so welcome. I posted them on facebook, so many of us just need your calm, deeply felt words of wisdom.

I’ll be 91 in a few days. I’m not the greatest at posting correctly but a couple of friends have already ‘liked’ your post. I’m happy to follow you. I think many would agree that we should choose positive ways to balance our grief as we deal with reality.
