Reflect, Celebrate, Release: Let’s Close the Year Feeling Extraordinary

As we close another year, I’ve been thinking about the moments that shaped my 2024. One that stands out was finishing the memoir I’ve been diligently working on since February. It wasn’t just about writing—it was about rediscovering myself through my words.

This process reminded me that extraordinary doesn’t always mean big or flashy. It can be sitting quietly with your thoughts, finding joy in small wins or facing challenges with courage.

I want to invite you to reflect on your own year with these questions. Take a moment to pause, savor your growth and dream about what’s next.

Reflecting on the Past Year

There have been dozens of incredible moments from 2024, so I’ll just focus on one extraordinary moment from this year: the writing retreat I attended at Madeline Island School of the Arts. Surrounded by 20 other writers, I dove deep into my memoir. It stretched me in ways I didn’t anticipate, forcing me to confront parts of my story I’d been avoiding. Yet, in that discomfort, I found clarity and growth.

Now, it’s your turn:

  1. What is one extraordinary moment from this year that made you feel truly alive?
  2. What challenge stretched you the most, and how did it transform you?
  3. What’s one lesson this year gifted you that you’ll carry forward?

Celebrating Achievements

I’m proud of how I kept showing up for myself this year, whether it was through my Spark events, including taking one couple and eight women to Bath, England for a (re)Discover Your Spark travel experience as well as hosting an Eat. Drink, Spark experience in Minneapolis to the largest group I’ve ever done one of these for!, launching Spark Moments and shipping 220+ of them or going through coach training and coaching more than 130 hours this year with nearly 20 clients. These wins—big and small—reminded me that consistency builds confidence and fulfillment.

How about you?

  1. What is one thing you accomplished that made you feel proud or fulfilled?
  2. What small or big win brought unexpected joy to your life?
  3. How did you invest in yourself this year, and what impact did it have?

Letting Go

This year, I let go of the idea that I have to have it all figured out. I gave myself permission to ask questions, make mistakes and pivot when something didn’t feel right. There’s so much freedom in releasing perfectionism.

What about you?

  1. What’s one belief or habit you left behind to make space for something better?
  2. What didn’t go as planned, and how did you pivot or find grace in the moment?
  3. What will you consciously choose to release as the year ends?

Looking Ahead

As I look to 2025, my guiding word is flourish. From hosting transformational Spark events in Florence to launching Brave Middle Ground, I want to cultivate spaces where people feel seen, heard and inspired.

What about you?

  1. What one word or theme will guide your next year?
  2. What’s one dream or goal you’re excited to explore in the coming year?
  3. How will you create more moments of joy, connection or growth in your everyday life?

Closing Thoughts: Take time to answer these questions—journal them, share them with a friend or just sit with them in quiet reflection. Remember, every ordinary moment has the potential to feel extraordinary when we pause to honor it.

Here’s to a beautiful close to this year and an even brighter beginning to the next.
